Yes, it’s that time again, when Midleton Main Street is turned into a cornucopia of all that is best in locally produced food and drink. The Midleton Food & Drink Festival, now in its fifth year, has been a huge draw to this East Cork market town due to the variety of its stall holders, the panoply of street entertainers, exhibitions and interactive attractions and by the welcoming nature of its inhabitants.
This year is no exception. Take a look below at just some of the attractions –
Fri 11th September at 7pm at the Distillery, Midleton.
The Festival is officially launched by none other than Darina Allen of Ballymaloe Cookery School. Afterwards there will be music and entertainment in the towns pubs and restaurants including the East Cork Comedy Club’s special evening in McDaids’s and music in Wallis Town Hall Bar
Saturday 12th September from 9.00am onwards – free for all the family.

Waiters Race
The Midleton Food & Drink Festival’s Waiters Race will take
place on September 12th, 2009 at 3pm. It is aimed at
promoting local restaurant and bar businesses and at the same time allowing their employees to win generous prizes. Waiters, waitresses, and other employees in traditional black and white waiter's attire will attempt to balance trays while completing a couple of laps of Thomas Street (off Main Street).
Bring great honor to yourselves and your establishments by partaking in this now famous, annual event!

We are delighted to announce that Market Green Shopping Centre have come on board with us as our Main Sponsor. Market Green was built on the site of the old Cork Marts and has Tesco as its anchor tenant with a versatile mix of retail units and over 400 free parking spaces. Midleton Food & Drink Festival 2009 will take place in the East Cork town on Saturday, 12th September and it will be a fantastic feast of food and fun for all. Pictured are Darina Allen, Ballymaloe Cookery School with Sheila Byrne and Seamus Cunningham of Midleton Food & Drinks Festival, at the launch of the festival fund-raising Raffle. 
Buy a ticket for a chance to win one of six fantastic hotel breaks or one of six fabulous fun prizes! Tickets on sale in a number of locations, including the Farmgate Restaurant, Wallis Bar, Denbar Jewelers and Midleton Books. Funds from the raffle will be used to run this year’s festival.
The focus of the Midleton Food & Drink Festival is to showcase the best of local quality Irish-made artisan food and drinks products and to promote these to the public.
With over 50 food and drinks stalls on the streets, farmers’ market, celebrity cookery demonstrations, a wine talk & tasting, waiters’ race, street music and entertainment, the festival promises fun and excitement for all the family. Put the date in your diary – Saturday 12th September 2009!
The festival committee is looking for volunteers. Volunteering is a great way to get involved in your local community and help organize Midleton’s most exciting annual festival. It will allow you to meet new people, use and develop your skills and have lots of fun along the way!
Opportunities for volunteers may include welcoming stall holders, promotions and marketing, sourcing music and street artists, coordinating the waiters’ race or stewarding on the day. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please call Sheila on 086 3596514
